The Lakes region was once a major iron ore producing area. Several iron furnaces still remain from that era – The Great Western Furnace being one. In operation during the early 19th century, most furnaces ground to a halt once the Civil War began and failed to re-start after the North prevailed, mainly due to a depletion of the natural resources in the area. Located directly on the Trace road, the great western furnace has been well preserved and is a worthwhile attraction to visit during your stay within the Lakes region!
The Golden Pond Visitor Center serves as our information hub at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Visitors will find brochures, recreation maps, trail maps, state maps, clean restrooms, soda machines, a gift shop, children’s play area, pavilion, trail heads, recycling center, and more. Regional brochures describe attractions and historic sites in the area.
Kentucky Oaks Mall is an enclosed super-regional shopping mall in Paducah, Kentucky. The mall includes more than 90 inline stores. Its anchor stores comprise Sears, JCPenney, Best Buy, Elder-Beerman, a Dillard’s store divided into two sub-stores, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Patti’s 1880’s Settlement? But it’s always been Patti’s 1880’s Restaurant! Well, it was…it still is. Only today there’s so much more. In 1975, Mom and Dad stopped in Grand Rivers and fell in love with the little town and shared a love for the Land Between the Lakes Area.

The largest and most established museum dedicated to quilting and the fiber arts. Visited by over 165,000 visitors every year, the National Quilt Museum is located within a sprawling 27,000 square foot building in historic downtown Paducah, Kentucky. Exhibits are rotated 8-10 times a year which ensures unique works of art throughout each season.
The state’s second largest general museum, Customs House is located in downtown Clarksville and features over 35,000 square feet of exhibit space. They feature hands-on activities and special events for folks of all ages. Sample exhibits include Champions Sports Gallery, Historical Postmaster’s Office, an operating model train, and the Bubble Museum for toddlers.
Appease your inner astronomer at the Golden Pond Planetarium! Sit back and relax within the 40 foot-foot dome and explore the nearby stars & galaxies. Learn more about black holes & constellations within the simulated night sky! When you’re done, pop into the Observatory to witness the actual night sky & nearby stars through their provided telescopes.
n addition to being the new home for the Variety! show, the newly constructed Badgett Playhouse will be the host location for many new events coming to Grand Rivers. These include other theatrical endeavors such as children’s theatre, movies, educational plays for local schools and special one night engagements by performers and groups from the local and national stage
Maggie’s Jungle Golf & Jungle Run includes a popular mini-golf course as well as a jungle run which features several exotic animals from across the world. You can either walk or rent a golf cart to pass through the jungle run.

A 3.5 mile loop road which re-creates the native habitat of elk & bison (which this region lost over a century ago). The 700 acre enclosure also features other wildlife such as wild turkeys, rabbits, bobcats, skunks, quails, hawks, and much much more! Entrance into the prairie is limited to cars & trucks, and for your own safety, visitors are prohibited from feeding or approaching any of the animals. The Prairie is open year round, from dawn till dusk, and admission is $5 per car.
